Nest of Boxes is a personal portfolio website for Alex Robertson a Set & Costume Designer for both theatre and television, who has worked on such series like ‘Home Time’, ‘Dr Who’ and ‘Gavin & Stacey’.

After growing up in Cornwall and attending Falmouth College of Arts, Alex then trained in Theatre Design at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, Cardiff, graduating in 2005.

Since then, he has worked on numerous and varied productions around the country and into Europe, based mainly in Cardiff and London, his work has covered many forms of theatre and television, ranging from small to large scale productions, touring pieces, site specific and puppetry works.

This website has been built on the latest version of WordPress (3.0) and has been created using a modified version of the viewport theme to suit Alex’s needs.

The website’s main functionailty is has been created around the native image galleries, built into the core of WordPress. This made it straight forward for Alex to update and add new projects as time goes on.

The website uterlises a number of plugins including jQuery Lightbox For Native Galleries; which makes the native WordPress galleries use a lightbox script called ColorBox to display the fullsize images. It also uses the Search Unleashed plugin; which extends the standard WordPress search to include data from posts, pages, comments, and meta-data, as well as the full content of data inserted by plugins.

Love For Jewellery

Love for Jewellery is a website where all of the jewellery is personally designed and hand made making many of the items one off unique pieces. All of the pieces are made up of beads, in various colours, sizes and shapes, which makes them ideal to wear with any outfit for any occassion.

The website is built on the latest version of WordPress and utilises many features of the eShop WordPress shopping cart plugin to provide seamless integration with Paypal. The website also incorporates a blog so that you keep up to date with all the latest news and offers from the site owner.

Other plugins that have been used on this website are:

MailChimp List Subscribe Form for the Newsletter sign up oon the sidebar.
Twitter Tools for the Twitter feed in the sidebar and the functionality of sending new products and blog articles to Twitter.
NextGEN Gallery for the image gallerys on the product page.
jQuery Banner which is an extension to NextGen Gallery that I have developed to display the banner on the homepage.

With everyone going Social Media mad at the moment, I though it was about time us golfers all got involved. UK Golf Courses is a website designed just for that, helping to bring the golfing community together.

Containing information about over 2500 golf courses across the UK, this website brings all social media features to the world of Golf, for you to share your thoughts on courses you have played on your travels.

The website was launched last week and is still in its early stages of development with new features being added on a weekly basis. Each course contains contact information, interactive location map, rating features and the ability to leave your thoughts via user comments. There is also a new interactive map search coming soon.

Have you every wondered where your ancestors came from? Now is your chance to find out if you have anyone famous or any black sheep in your families past. Harrisons of Liverpool is a amateur genealogist, he can do research for you, if you do not know where to start or haven’t got the spare time to carry out your own research.

He has his own Family Tree which now contains over 3,000 people, some of which can be seen on Harrisons of Liverpool A Family Tree. He has completed several trees over the past 12 months and on one of them went back as far as 896 because of a Royal connection.

The Harrisons of Liverpool website was designed on a WordPress MU platform so that a information and business website could be updated on a single admin backend.

Black Lion Bowling Club

The Black Lion Bowling Club in Oswestry are a local crown green bowling club that play in the Oswestry & District Bowling League in Shropshire.

The Black Lion Bowling Club website was designed to be an information site for current players, providing the latest news, results and fixtures. The site also serves to attract new players and interest to the game of crown green bowls.

The website is also powered by a bespoke Content Management System and MySQL database, so that the club can update results and fixtures by them selfs.

One other feature of this website is that if you view it using a mobile device it will automatically redirect you to the mobile version, with cut down content for easy access on the go.
