Front End Developer – Rank Interactive, London

  • Lead Front End Developer for Grosvenor Casinos at Rank Interactive. Frequently work cross-brand on Mecca Bingo, BlueSq and Enracha.
  • Utilising strong HTML5, CSS and jQuery skills to build responsive website frameworks to be accessible across desktop and mobile devices.
  • Building web apps for Mobile devices such as iPhone, Android and iPad. Implementation of grid frameworks and Object Oriented CSS to create cross-platform environments to speed up development of new features and keep page weight and load times to a minimum.

  • Working as Front End Developer / Client Support Associate for a turnkey, hosted and managed platform development company based in Cardiff Bay, Cardiff. Working for a small startup company with of a team of 10; tasked with managing my time between enhancing the current platform, supporting the entire client base of over 500 and contributing to the development of a new platform.
  • Enhancing current core platform functionality; built on a modified version of the Plone framework; as well as working closely with the product team to prioritize new feature development, based around client feedback and feature requests.
  • Utilizing strong HTML and CSS skills to convert PSD/PNG designs to fully working themes for the new platform based around the Drupal theming system. Also advising on UI and UX elements of the new platform from a design perspective.
  • Managing the relationship between SubHub and their external developers on third party projects; making sure the relevant code is checked in/out successfully and timescales are managed and successfully adhered to.
  • Providing ongoing support to partners and customers, ensuring that the highest quality support is delivered at all times. Investigating PHP, MySQL, CSS and jQuery issues that arise from client feedback and developing suitable solutions.
  • Working with payment gateways such as SagePay, PayPal and Authorize.net to allow clients to monetize their content through a number of different avenues such as affiliate marketing, advertisement, subscription/membership, pay-per-view content and online store.

  • Working as a Senior Web Developer/Designer for a marketing & web services company in Shrewsbury, Shropshire; working in a very busy office, tasked with developing and managing their web department of 3 developers.
  • Assessing client’s requirements and implementing practical solutions to problems. Supporting and organising my team in scheduling projects; while maintaining a high standard of customer focus.
  • Training clients on websites powered by content management systems, some based around open source software such as WordPress and others custom built from scratch dependent on required specification.
  • Producing e-marketing campaigns both for various company projects and for a selection of clients. Required to maintain close communication with the Business Manager. Also responsible for providing regular updates on current work schedules, work issues and costing for potential new projects.
  • Manage and maintain numerous complex websites for clients including local government agencies and public bodies. Initiating an internal company-wide transition to a faster, more efficient data management system; custom built to reduce maintenance costs and allow flexibility for future expansion.

Interests & Activities

I enjoy both playing and watching various sports including golf, football and exercise regularly. I enjoy socialising and going out to eat. I have a huge interest in the web technologies such as jQuery and PHP and a keen WordPress community member. I am also a member of the Xbox Live Community Development Program (XCDP), where I am currently improving my Xbox Live Gamecard WordPress Plugin.

I am keen to keep up to date with the latest news; reading such sites as Techcrunch, Smashing Magazine and Web Designer Wall on a daily basis. I am the co-founder of levelledup.com; a website for community gaming news and reviews, where I enjoy writing regular articles.
